 INTRODUCTION

The local toxic action of a chemical substance can result in a localized harmful effect at the point of contact with the body (respiratory tract, skin, eye).

It is the result of accidental, time-limited contact with high concentrations/doses.

Local tolerance is a short-term safety issue.

You need to understand the mechanisms of respiratory, cutaneous and ocular irritation and corrosion, so you can choose the tests that will enable you to assess the danger of irritation and corrosion. You will then be able to classify and label chemical substances, and put in place the appropriate preventive measures.
