6. Mistakes to avoid

6.1 Don't try to answer "to the letter".

Although ISO/CEI 17025 seems to impose "rules" (the laboratory must...), it does not impose any solutions or tools. The standard merely questions the laboratory on management and technical issues leading to accurate measurements.

It allows you to ask yourself the right managerial questions, and leaves it up to the laboratory to find the answers that suit it best.

The mistake would be to try to "lock everything down" in the hope of guaranteeing that everything is under control.
