5. Our advice

5.1 Find the right balance

Implementing an organization according to ISO/CEI 17025 is a balance between a managerial component (management system) and a strong technical-scientific component. Placing the quality approach at the heart of the organization runs the risk of ignoring technical functions. On the other hand, placing technical aspects at the heart of the organization would lead to a managerial system that was a "spectator" of technical activity.

The key to maintaining this balance is for management to appoint a quality manager with both managerial and technical skills. The measures taken in response to the standard's requirements will be all the simpler, more pragmatic, and better understood and applied by all personnel.
