4.1 The different evolutions

ISO/CEI 17025 was first published in 1999, incorporating the principles of ISO/CEI Guide 25 (general requirements for the competence of calibration and testing laboratories) and the requirements of European standard EN 45001 (general criteria for the operation of testing laboratories). The introduction of a separation between managerial and technical control, including the estimation of measurement uncertainties, had a major impact on analysis, testing and calibration laboratories.
