4. Determining the number of labels per station

The number of kanbans or labels is first determined by a calculation, in order to have an order of magnitude, and then by an empirical adjustment. This calculation is obviously not fixed in time, and will have to be revised according to changes in production, quality performance of manufacturing processes...

Scientific calculation: this calculation takes into account the life cycle of a Kanban and the manufacturing time of a container.

The life cycle of a label takes into account the time from which the label leaves the panel until it returns to the panel: time from label retrieval to the station, time from parts manufacturing to container filling, time from container delivery to downstream production station, time from container emptying, time from label return to panel.
