1. What is internal control?
Simply put, the internal control process and function implement all the actions necessary to verify that the risks associated with an organization's or company's activities are adequately controlled. Above all, this involves assessing the relevance and effectiveness of the controls put in place to manage these risks.
Originally, internal control focused on the accounting and financial aspects of a company. The current trend is to broaden the scope to include all areas and processes of a company.
The AMF, the French financial markets authority, gives the following definition:
