2. Classification rules

2.1 Determine whether your facility is classified as Seveso

The nomenclature of classified installations is divided into four parts:

  • Potentially hazardous substances (e.g. filling systems for flammable aerosols);

  • potentially hazardous activities (e.g. waste processing);

  • facilities involving certain industrial substances (so-called IED activities, e.g. ferrous metal processing);

  • installations involving hazardous substances and mixtures (e.g. environmentally hazardous substances).
