Environmental assessment is the process of estimating a project's impact on the environment.
The impact study is the first step in this process, which includes :
Impact study → Environmental Code consultations → Project review by the environmental authority
The purpose of the environmental assessment is to :
for the project manager to analyze the environmental impact of his project;
for the public to find out about the project's environmental impact;
for the authorities, to assess the project's environmental impact and decide whether or not to authorize it in light of the environmental issues at stake.
