3.1 Officials and agents in charge of controls

Infringements are recorded in reports drawn up by criminal investigation officers and environmental inspectors.

Article L. 172-1 of Code de l’environnement creates the corps of environmental inspectors, which includes civil servants and public agents assigned :

• in the government departments responsible for implementing the provisions of the Environmental Code (e.g. the Regional Directorates for the Environment, Planning and Housing (DREAL), which are responsible for monitoring the opening, operation and closure of ICPEs);...
