5. Mistakes to avoid

5.1 Don't forget to add up the probabilities of scenarios involving the same RIS.

When several accident scenarios are going to call upon the same RIS (and are of the same severity), forgetting to cumulate their probabilities to deduce the level of SIL required for the RIS will result in an underestimation of the required SIL, which would lead to a risk reduction factor insufficient to guarantee an acceptable risk.
