5. Mistakes to avoid

5.1 Don't neglect to respond to a third party's request for environmental information about your facility.

It is important to respond to requests for information, even if the prefectural authority is legally designated as the competent person to respond to such requests.

It is advisable to refer the request for information to the departmental prefecture's environmental service, or to the Bureau de la Police Sanitaire et de l'Environnement (BPSE) at the Préfecture de Police in Paris, and to inform the requester that the request has been referred.
