5. Our advice

5.1 When you issue your draft prefectoral decree, compare the performance levels requested with those set out in Chapter V of the decree of February 2, 1998.

This exercise is essential in order to check whether the level of requirements you are being asked to achieve is in line with regulatory standards and any local specificities. A comparison of emission limit values in the air or water, or of monitoring conditions, with those specified in the integrated decree, will enable you to position the level of performance you are being asked to achieve in relation to what is usually required at national level for the same type of plant, and thus avoid any possible distortion of competition.
