1.1 Water resources

Water, like air, is essential to life. But exploitable freshwater resources (aquifers, rivers, lakes, etc.) represent only 1% of the earth's total water resources. What's more, this resource is vulnerable and subject to numerous human-induced pollutants. This makes water a precious resource that needs to be protected and used with care.
