5. Special case: making a plastic conductive
There are times when a plastic material has to be made conductive. This is the case, for example, when you want to paint plastic objects after they've been made.
A word of warning: some have ventured to make the material conductive by incorporating various charges that are themselves conductive, just as others perpetuate the myth of the Philosopher's Stone! The principle destroys itself when you're convinced that only materials that can be ionized in high doses will achieve the goal. This means adding a solvent (water, for example) in constant, or almost constant, concentration. Just imagining this, we can deduce that conductivities will be hard to keep constant, and we'll refrain from commenting on mechanical performance after ageing.
