3. Organizing collaborative design

3.1 Specify products and select designers

The specifications of the mechatronic products or robots to be designed are drawn up collaboratively by in-house and external designers. The choice of external designers will be made by identifying the lack of in-house design skills. For example, gaps in software design may be filled by the involvement of laboratories or a competent company. The project manager is responsible for overall management of the product design, while the gatekeeper is in charge of gathering any missing information on the project (contacts, subcontractors, technical data). During the specification phase, the technological gatekeeper will be actively involved in providing data to the cell.
