INTRODUCTION
All measurement is by nature a comparison with a unit (m, kg, s, a...) which represents a well-defined quantity recognized throughout the world. The task of connecting measuring instruments is to ensure that they respect this quantity.
Industrial decisions are often based on measurements (batch acceptance, settings, etc.). The quality of these decisions therefore depends directly on the quality of the measurement results. Instrument connection, which is often essential to the latter, is therefore an indispensable stage. It is the subject of numerous provisions which are included in the COFRAC requirements for accrediting laboratories providing calibration services. This data sheet covers the following topics:
connection, metrological traceability chain ;
traceability ;
calibration / verification ;
COFRAC accreditation (or not?) ;
periodicity ;
monitoring.
