INTRODUCTION
Although the management of metrological functions in companies remains accessible, it does require a minimum knowledge of vocabulary, terminology and mathematics. The aim here is not to go back over mathematical concepts, but to define the main notions used when talking about the metrological function.
One of the prerequisites for understanding metrology and its concepts is to become familiar with the vocabulary.
This sheet defines the main metrological concepts taken from the VIM (Vocabulaire international de la métrologie) codified NF X 07-001 and the GUM (Guide pour l'expression des incertitudes de mesure) codified NF ENV 13005 (see "Obtaining standards, keeping up to date" sheet).
