5. Limit stress and fatigue on site, keep busy during downtime

You'll inevitably have downtime and waiting times when you're on the move.

Since a project manager is usually very busy, but very organized, here are a few possibilities to occupy those moments:

• make a few phone calls, but be aware of the time difference depending on your location;

• read interesting articles for your projects;

• reread your contracts;

• relax.

To prepare for meetings with your distant contacts, keep a map of their respective locations; this will save you a lot of trouble on the spot.

Ask your destination hotel for a pick-up when you arrive at your destination airport, so you'll be expected and sure to arrive safely.
