Since a project manager is usually very busy, but very organized, here are a few possibilities to occupy those moments:
make a few phone calls, but be aware of the time difference depending on your location;
read interesting articles for your projects;
reread your contracts;
relax.
To prepare for meetings with your distant contacts, keep a map of their respective locations; this will save you a lot of trouble on the spot.
Ask your destination hotel for a pick-up when you arrive at your destination airport, so you'll be expected and sure to arrive safely.
