INTRODUCTION
The role of Project Management Officer is a relatively new one in organizations, compared to functions such as accountant, mechanic or general manager. What's more, the Anglo-Saxon trigram for Project Management Office (or Officer if we're talking about the individual) contributes to the vagueness of the PMO's definition and role.
The aim of this fact sheet is to provide as broad an overview as possible of the activities that a Project Management Officer may be called upon to carry out within the industry. It does not cover Project Management Officer activities in other sectors, such as banking or insurance.
