5. Define communication rules with your customer, management and team

Communication activities within a project can have several dimensions:

  • internal (within the project) and external (customers, suppliers, other projects);

  • formal (reports, minutes, instructions) and informal (e-mails, memos, discussions);

  • vertical (hierarchical) and transversal (between professions and resources) ;

  • official (newsletter, annual report) and unofficial (unofficial targeted communications);

  • written, oral, verbal and non-verbal.

Managing the various communications will ensure that project information is planned, collected, created, distributed, stored, retrieved and archived in a timely and appropriate manner.
