Once you've chosen your monitoring tool, don't just jump in! Don't neglect the setup stage. It's best to get organized, especially if there are several watchers. Define who's going to do what, when and how. For example: who registers sources? all sources or only those on a given subject? when? which attributes to create? how to use them? The same goes for collection plans and alerts.
This phase is tedious but important: don't botch it or you won't use the tool to its full potential, which would be all the more unfortunate since you've spent a considerable amount of money on a tool like AMI EI.
