4. What other types of service are considered non-technical?
As mentioned above, there is no closed, definitive definition of technology. Moreover, the list of legal exclusions is not exhaustive. Thus, EPO practice takes into account both the list of exclusions (aesthetic creations, mathematical methods, methods in the exercise of intellectual activities, in games or in the field of economic activities, presentations of information) and the general notion of technique according to the European legal tradition. This notion is not easily defined, and is based on an accumulation of individual cases. An example will help to illustrate this point.
