4. Create a bibliography with in-text citations

The "Cite While You Write" tool will be an indispensable and valuable aid, which is what makes these bibliographic management software packages so interesting.

The idea is to establish a real bibliography, linked to the citations in the text, and created as you go along during your writing. The power of the two programs is then used to the full, as it is the software that works to put the references back in citation order, or in alphabetical order, depending on the style of journal chosen.

Scientific journals differ in style. Some (e.g. Science ) list references in the order in which they appear in the text, with the reference number referenced in the text, e.g. (1).
