The features common to all five mind mapping software packagesFreeMind/Freeplane, MindView, MindManager, XMind, Mindomo-are as follows.
They all run on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.
All nodes include metadata, i.e. data about the node itself (e.g. priority markers, percentage of completion, footnotes, hyperlinks, numbering, images).
Maps feature floating nodes, customizable branch shapes and connecting lines between nodes.
In the advanced functions, export to word processor and slideshow is generalized. A full range of export options is available, including the ability to export as an image file, document, web page, PDF file or slideshow.
