 INTRODUCTION

If your corpus of online sources is so rich today that the time you devote to your daily monitoring has become too great, it's time to equip yourself with a tool that will make your task easier.

While some monitoring tools can be very costly, and require a great deal of technical expertise, others can be used to optimize monitoring quickly and easily. Such is the case with Netvibes.

Launched in 2005 by Tariq Krim and Florent Frémont, this customizable web portal, a pioneer of the Web 2.0 era, has been part of the Dassault Systèmes group since early 2012. Its principle: offer users the possibility of aggregating various content, notably RSS feeds, on a dashboard segmented into tabs.

By design, Netvibes is based on a "pull" monitoring method; in other words, the service won't send you the information. To collect it, you'll need to connect to your portal. To ensure quality monitoring, you'll need to consult your dashboard on a regular basis.

Before doing so, you'll need to go through a number of steps, including identifying sources, organizing them, setting parameters and personalizing the portal.

Once it's up and running, it can also become a real communication tool. We'll tell you how!
