6. Mistakes to avoid

  • Don't forget to think in terms of inputs and outputs. Monitoring software will be all the more transparent if it can interconnect with input streams and send them to other applications.

  • Don't think of price only in terms of year 1. In the long term, it can sometimes be worthwhile to build your own monitoring solution from scratch, provided you have the courage and the support of your IT department.
