4. Example of an industrial application
The following example is an application of Rough Sets theory. A company manufactures paper pulp. Three evaluation criteria to be maximized are identified: pulp stiffness, pulp elasticity and pulp texture. From a population of products, five are selected and ranked in order of preference (from best to worst). The approach presented below is inspired by the work of S. Greco, B. Matarazzo and R. Slowinski.
