1.1 Search engines specialized in scientific articles
While the Google Scholar engine is well known to research specialists, the more recent Semantic Scholar engine offers some very interesting additional options. Google Scholar doesn't directly sort results by the number of citations. On the other hand, some authors' names are underlined in the results: this means that the author has created a public-access profile, which displays his or her bibliometric indices, the list of publications and the names of co-authors. All these elements can be used to verify the author's expertise and influence.
