5. Our advice

  • Look for "nuggets" first, rather than making connections with a particular organization a priori. Once you have several "nuggets" from the same organization, you can establish a framework collaboration agreement if necessary.

  • Establish a confidentiality and idea exploitation contract from the outset: before any open innovation approach, it is vital to protect the company's intellectual property. You and your partner should draw up a confidentiality contract describing areas of responsibility, the division of tasks and the rights to use the deliverables.
