Your role as a buyer is traditionally to ensure the supply of the inputs required for the company's activity, at the lowest possible cost. The last ten years have seen Purchasing take on greater importance to maintain the competitive advantage of "cost": the concentration of companies on their "core business" has resulted in an increase in the share of external supplies and services, often reaching over 60% of sales in industry (source: IRIA 2010 study by Cdaf and AgileBuyer). With the globalization of trade, the purchasing profession has become spectacularly professionalized.
