5. What are the effects of the opposition procedure?
The opposition procedure has three possible outcomes ( article 101 de la CBE ):
patent revocation (28% of cases in 2016);
maintaining the patent and rejecting the opposition (32% of cases in 2016);
maintaining the patent in a modified form (40% in 2016).
