8.1 Don't confuse patent and CU

The CU option can be interesting when the applicant has mastered the prior art in his technical field, and does not need a term of validity linked to that of the patent.

Beware, however: in order to assert his rights, the owner of a CU will have to request a search report from the INPI. This can take several months...
