6. How is the patent issued?

Once the patent application has been processed, the applicant is asked to pay the fee for issuing and printing the patent specification.

This payment must be made within 2 months, failing which the patent application will be rejected.

The patent is granted in the applicant's name by decision of the Director of INPI. This decision is notified to the applicant, who is sent a certified copy. In the event of assignment of the patent application, the patent is granted in the name of the last assignee entered in the National Patent Register (RNB) until payment of the fee for the grant and printing of the specification.
