An IP right has two facets:
it allows you to occupy the land by making your ownership official (defensive and dissuasive aspect);
it enables you to challenge the unauthorized use of your property (offensive aspect).
In other words, this monopoly allows you to :
penetrate new economic markets;
consolidate your position in a market where you are already present;
block competitors in a market before the courts if necessary.
