2. Measuring the scope of connected object offerings

There are two main families of connected objects: objects linked to smartphones (bracelets, watches, etc.) and stand-alone objects.

2.1 A little vocabulary

  • Internet of Things = #IoT.

  • Web 3.0: a decentralized Internet.

  • Smart Object: connected object, sensor object.

  • Machine to Machine: data collected by data sensors is transmitted via cloud computing, from machine to machine. The smartphone or laptop no longer stores the data. As a result, data can be consulted from any Internet-connected device.
