INTRODUCTION
The rise of connected objects represents a major commercial challenge, but it also raises many questions.
By definition, a connected object is one capable of communicating and interacting with another object or via the Internet. It's a physical object that performs one or more functions in the real world (e.g. brushing your teeth) but which, when connected digitally, offers new services (e.g. brushing statistics, oral advice).
We outline these issues and limitations here, as an introduction to the expert articles on the subject.
The monitoring activity enables us to keep abreast of these new objects, which are becoming more and more important in our lives, and which evolve at the same pace as new technologies, on a daily basis.
