3. Using the matrix, identify the statistical results of the 40,000 patents.
Apart from the diagonal, which represents more physical contradictions, at the intersections between rows and columns you will find three possible situations:
Situation 1: cells containing 1 to 4 digits represent the results of a statistical analysis highlighting the inventive principles most frequently used by inventors (in our case and in order 14, 4, 28, 29). Other potentially useful inventive principles are not represented due to the low frequency of their appearance in patents.
Situation 2: Empty cells indicate that it was not possible to bring out a particular population of principles. As a result, the choice of parameters and/or the contradiction itself must be reviewed.
