7. Mistakes to avoid

The most common errors in value analysis are as follows:

  • implement tools without mobilizing the "value mindset";

  • be satisfied with the opinions of the company's "internal" managers;

  • do not challenge the expression of needs ("what for?"), even by users;

  • demand precise figures to get started (it's better to start with estimates and then go into greater detail to validate ideas and even implement them);

  • standardize the solution, instead of adapting it to the needs of each category of user;

  • over-detailing the analysis: the level of detail can always be specified at a later stage;
