4. "Change what? research and evaluate ideas and solutions

4.1 Prioritizing research

The previous steps have resulted in a transformation of the point of view on the solution under study: from a technical solution with known component costs to a list of performances with known costs.

The search for alternatives takes place on three levels:

  • Performance requirements: does the performance of the solution studied correspond to actual needs?

  • Unnecessary" components of the solution, not corresponding to the expressed functions: how can they be eliminated?

  • Solutions: what else can be done to achieve each function of the current solution?
