6. Radiation protection in the workplace

Radiation protection for workers is organized to achieve a twofold objective: avoid deterministic or non-stochastic effects and minimize the risks associated with stochastic effects.

Non-stochastic effects are the best known (see previous paragraph) and correspond to the highest doses. These effects are relatively easy to avoid if working conditions comply with good professional practice, and are only observed in accidental situations.
