1. Characterization of disability through analysis of altered movement

1.1 Background and environment

When faced with a motor handicap, one of the aims of biomechanics is to analyze the "pathological" movement in order to propose scientific or technological solutions to alleviate or reduce activity limitations. To this end, bio-mechanics requires a combination of experimentation, modeling and simulation. In particular, the modeling and experimentation aspects enable us to quantify the behavior of the human body, while the joint modeling and simulation aspects enable us to predict and therefore estimate the impact of an intervention.
