4. Conclusion

Biomechanics is a multidisciplinary scientific field at the interface between mechanics and the medical sciences. It is therefore particularly well-suited to the study of impaired movement, whether as an aid to the diagnosis of a pathology or in the management of disability.

Using mechanical methods and tools, the aim is always to characterize the altered movement in comparison with a movement recognized as "normal", in order to identify the alteration and understand the reasons for it. Subsequently, the biomechanist may need to propose scientific or technological solutions to compensate for the disturbed functions, in order to restore locomotion as close as possible to the reference locomotion (orthoses or prostheses), or, if this is not possible, to propose solutions that make it possible to bypass the function causing the alteration, by creating an alternative...
