1. Solvent-free synthesis

1.1 Why use a solvent?

Solvents are generally inert liquids that dissolve reagents, allowing them to come into contact, interact and react. However, their influence in synthesis can be very important, as solvent-reagent and solvent-reaction intermediate interactions, through stabilization effects, very often control the outcome and efficiency of a chemical synthesis. These effects depend, of course, on the structure of the solvent (dielectric constant, possibility of establishing hydrogen bonds, etc.). .
