4. Conclusion and outlook

The use of polymers in cosmetics is highly developed, and innovative advances in polymer science and nanoscience are leading to the creation of new cosmetic products. Polymers are ubiquitous in cosmetics, whether in skincare products as a tensor or moisturizing film material, or in make-up as a material for fixing color to various substrates. Polymers play a vital role in controlling, modifying and improving formulation properties.

Among these polymers, natural polymers are of growing interest due to their origin, biocompatibility, biodegradability and specific physico-chemical properties. For example, natural polymers used as texture agents in cosmetic formulations are at low mass percentages, maximum 3%.
