The user needs to know the uncertainty of measurement of his U (IP ) scale under defined conditions of use, and ensure that it meets his needs. Furthermore, errors of indication are generally small and the user does not correct them. These considerations lead to the definition of the scale's uncertainty, enabling the user to determine the accuracy of the weighing performed.
