10. Economic aspect

As a flowmeter with a depressurizing device consumes a certain amount of pumping energy, it is good practice to evaluate the annual cost of this energy and compare it with the investment savings achieved by choosing such an instrument rather than a flowmeter based on another principle, which consumes less energy but is more expensive to purchase. This economic calculation is in fact quite complex, since in addition to this direct operating cost, you need to take into account factors such as maintenance costs, comparative availability, comparative accuracy and the resulting production gains, tax depreciation, etc.

In terms of investment, the cost of a differential pressure transmitter can be roughly estimated at 8,000 francs, plus another thousand francs for piping and isolation valves. But that's as far as pricing goes, because the purchase price of a differential...
