The results presented demonstrate the accuracy of the method, and unambiguously illustrate the usefulness of using two-color pyroreflectometry when the aim is no longer to optically monitor the temperature level of reproducible processes, but to determine the surface temperature under in situ conditions without knowledge of emissivity.
Relatively universal for opaque bodies, it cannot be applied in cases where the surface is located in a non-negligible radiating environment, leading to parasitic reflections on the surface.
Validation measurements show that the method's fundamental assumption of identical reflection indicators for neighbouring wavelengths, which is far less restrictive than that of grey or perfectly scattering bodies, is realistic.
