2. Video pre-processing

2.1 Interlace-progressive conversion

Most of today's plasma screens, like many flat screens, are progressive screens.

This means, among other things, that each image sent to the screen will be displayed on all its lines.

While professional applications use progressive sources (mainly PCs), the same cannot be said of video applications, whose sources are usually interlaced, specially designed for CRT screens.

The latter use a two-stroke scanning of odd and even lines: thus a CRT monitor operating at 50 Hz will scan only the even lines in the first 20 ms (even frame), then the odd lines in the following 20 ms (odd frame).
