4. Conclusion
The ultrasonic stress determination method is fast, non-destructive, can be used both in the laboratory and on industrial sites, and is perfect for quality control of 100% of production.
Nevertheless, it does have a few limitations: it doesn't allow constraints on very shallow measurement depths, and it's more difficult to implement on complex geometries and requires calibration.
Residual stresses are determined using experimental devices designed to refine the methodology for measuring the travel time (speed) of the ultrasonic wave. In fact, the choices made in terms of the elements of the experimental devices are as follows:
