Like all NDT methods, PT has its own limitations.
8.1 Open-to-surface discontinuities leading to the surface
To enable detection, the discontinuities must not be clogged.
Consequently, surface preparation and cleaning prior to penetrant
testing are critical, as contaminants can mask defects. This subject
